Run your Alpha, VAX and Sparc applications in the Cloud

The Cloud is just another X86-type platform that our customers may want to use, next to X86 hardware or Virtual Machine products.

The AVTware virtualization products are designed to run on any x86-type platform without the need for general purpose Operating Systems like Windows or Linux. Everything you need is included in the product, no worries about additional software.

Operating directly on x86-type platform greatly improves the reliability and availability of a virtualized Alpha, VAX or Sparc system because there can be no interference from a multi-purpose Operating System (not to mention the cost for purchasing and patching Windows or Linux).

Until recent the OpenVMS, Tru64 and Sparc community had a strong preference to run directly on the X86 hardware, which we provide as our Bare Metal installation. Bare Metal ensures maximum control of the total compute environment because the AVTware solution controls all hardware. Which of course is safer than running as a guest in a Windows or Linux environment which can impact the operation of your virtual Sparc, VAX and Alpha machines.

With the broad acceptance (and growing preference) for Virtual Machine and Cloud installations, AVTware supports those too. Still using the Bare Metal principle, avoiding host operation systems that may harm the virtual Sparc, Alpha and VAX machines.

How does the AVT Cloud solution work?
There are many options to move your Windows or Linux systems to the Cloud (public, private, hybrid), but until now your OpenVMS/Tru64/Solaris-based applications always required legacy hardware on-site.

With AVTware you can easily bring that Alpha/VAX/Sparc software without changes to the Cloud and get rid of the old hardware. Even better: AVTware connects your office with your OpenVMS/Tru64/Solaris applications (now in the Cloud) through a secure and private network. All communication between your local desks and your Solaris, OpenVMS or Tru64 applications in the Cloud runs over an encrypted link preventing anyone to hack into your system.

With the help of AVTware you can now run your Sparc, Alpha and VAX software in the Cloud of your choice. Using the guidelines we provide elsewhere on this website, AVT will assist you and your cloud provider to calculate sufficient computing resources and storage capacity.

After installation you simply connect to the AVTware Cloud solution and setup a secure connection using your own certificates, thereby creating your own private and protected network that cannot be accessed by outsiders. An important benefit of this private network is that you can continue to use Solaris, Alpha and VAX-specific network protocols like DECnet and Clustering. You can even connect equipment you may prefer to keep on-premise into this private network, or make backups to devices in your local office LAN, just to be safe.

VMSsoftware, Oracle & AVT Cloud

VMSsoftware, Oracle and AVT work closely together allowing you to move your aging Sparc, VAX and Alpha OpenVMS systems to the Cloud. Using built-in VPN tunnels you can create virtual VAX/Alpha/Sparc systems in any Cloud deployment model (private, public, community, hybrid). The resulting Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) implementation is a secure and cost-effective way to preserve your vital VMS systems while eliminating at-risk legacy hardware.
